Architectural Studies, Minor

The Minor in Architectural Studies is designed for students not enrolled in the Architectural Studies major who are interested in a unique opportunity to stimulate their imagination and learn creative approaches to problem solving. This program will complement their current academic program with an in-depth understanding of architecture. The coursework exposes students to the fundamental principles that integrate design thinking with human behavior. Some students may wish to use the minor as a means of investigating possible graduate studies in architecture and some way wish to develop architectural specialties with other disciplines.

Requirements

Students who choose the Minor in Architectural Studies must have a declared major in another school or college at UWM and must have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average.

The minor consists of 15 credits in architecture courses. There are 4 required classes plus any other ARCH 200 level or above. For students who have not taken ARCH 101, they may substitute ARCH 112. No courses may be taken on a credit/no credit basis.

Admission to the Minor

Admission to the minor will be processed by the School of Architecture and Urban Planning Student Advising Office (AUP 266). To declare the Architectural Studies minor, students should email sarup-ugrad@uwm.edu.
