Peer Support Specialist, Undergraduate Microcredential

The three-course, 9-credit Peer Support Specialist microcredential teaches knowledge and skills that are foundational to the peer support specialist role and contributes to the Wisconsin's Certified Peer Specialist credential. The microcredential is also a part of the Advancing Peer Education, Employment, and Recovery Services or A-PEERS. A partnership between the Center for Innovative Transition, Education & Employment (CITEE) at UWM,  the Social Work Department at UWM, and Wisconsin Community Services,  A-PEERS' goal is to help build and sustain Wisconsin’s paraprofessional behavioral health workforce via advanced education and training along with job placement. 

Requirements

The microcredential entails three undergraduate social courses:

Admission

Current UWM students with of 2.5 or better, or special approval from Social Work Department. Previous GPA for non-degree or special students of 2.5 or better, or special approval from Social Work Department.
